How can I get involved?
WE NEED YOU….. This is a village event. We are actively searching for local community and indeed non-community members to get involved! We need people to act, sing, play live music, help us with the sound and lighting, help out with props and costume.

Crowd and Community Performers
We are actively seeking people of all ages to take on the community and crowd performance roles. On Thursday February 4th we are hosting a drop in session at 8pm at Legge House, Church Hill, Wroughton for tea and a biscuit and a chat about how you and possibly your whole family can get involved in the crowd scenes. These are non-speaking roles that will help us create the overall atmosphere for the piece. We need people who are available on odd Tuesday or Wednesday evenings (not every week) and the occasional Sunday from February to March. Come along or email us at email@example.com if you are interested.
Alongside all the principal characters we are also looking for between eight and fifteen young actors between the ages of 7 and 16 to become our Junior Company and take part in several different elements of the production. The main aspect will be in the opening scene, where they will be involved with the story told by Jesus to the crowds. Each member of the Junior Company will have a speaking role. Rehearsals for the Junior Company will be at The Methodist Church in Wroughton at 5.30-7pm on Wednesday evenings in February and March – details on dates will follow post audition and all auditionees must be available at this time.
Auditions will be held on Sunday 31st January from 10am to 11am (at Wroughton Parish Church Hall, Priors Hill, Wroughton). We are also holding an audition session for children from Ridgeway School and Wroughton Junior School on Wednesday 27th January at 3.30pm. There will be a workshop led by Junior Company Director Jamie Carter. For the final fifteen minutes, all the children will be asked to say a few lines from the play on their own. We will be just be looking for clear speaking and smiling faces! For a place at these auditions please email firstname.lastname@example.org. We look forward to hearing from you.
Lead Performance roles
We have now cast the lead performers. However, things are flexible and we are always keen to get people involved. If you are interested please do email us at email@example.com…. you might be just the person we are missing!
The Super Choir
Ronni from Ronstars is leading a Super Choir for us. This group will meet once a week to rehearse some music for the show. If you are keen to be involved in this element please do email us at firstname.lastname@example.org
Props and Costume
The performance Director Anna Friend has a strong design background and will use this to inform the design elements of the show. In order to realise the vision she needs a core group of makers and sourcers who are happy to construct large props, source random items and alter the costumes. We are very excited to announce that Gatecrash Theatre, through Wroughton Passion Play, is supporting fair-trade clothing company Jacob’s Well through this production. We are paying the company, which is based in India, and provides empowering opportunities for vulnerable women , to produce almost all of the clothes worn in the show. The costumes are then being delivered to us in person by the company’s Managing Director. For more details on the fantastic work Jacob’s Well are doing please click here. We are proud to be working in partnership with the company and know the money we are putting into this is going to help change lives! Please get in touch ASAP if you can help with any element of the design….. altering the costumes once they arrive, making the cross, sourcing the props etc etc
We are looking for a core team of technicians and stage managers to help the performance move smoothly in our five locations. You will need good practical knowledge, a can do attitude and some experience of the technical aspects of theatre would be an advantage. Please contact us if this is you.
The whole project is, as you can imagine, going to cost some money…. room hire, costumes, props, equipment, fees. Gatecrash Theatre has invested some of it’s own money and we have been fortunate enough to secure funding from Wroughton Parish Church and The Bible Society. However, we do need more in order to ensure we can keep the final performance free and accessible to all and realise all of the project’s aims. We will shortly be posting a link to a crowd funding page here in which you can donate. Alternatively, you can donate via the Church office (which is located inside the Church Hall, Priors Hill, Wroughton). If you prefer this method of donation then please pop any funds into an envelope clearly labelled ‘Wroughton Passion Play’. We are very grateful for any support we receive.
